The Guide TD435S is a handheld thermal monocular from the new APEX VISION TD 3.0 series, with a 400×300 pixel detector at 12 µm and 15 mK NETD. The 35 mm F1.0 objective lens detects heat up to 1800 m and the whole device weighs 355 g. It is the lightest model in the series, designed for observing at night without weight around your neck.
Features
- ApexVision S1 system: ApexCore S1 detector, Nexus 1.0 platform and Hyper-Light 2.0 algorithm, Guide's new imaging architecture.
- 15 mK NETD: distinguishes very small temperature differences, giving more contrast in fog, humidity or vegetation.
- 35 mm F1.0 objective lens with a 7.9° × 5.9° field (14 × 10 m at 100 m) and 3.26x to 13.04x magnification.
- 0.49-inch AMOLED display at 1440×1080, with 7 colour palettes, including White Hot, Black Hot and Iron Red.
- Focus selector and symmetrical body: focus and operate with one hand, right or left.
- Replaceable 18650 battery with up to 10 hours of operation; two come in the box and it is easy to fit in the dark.
- 64 GB internal memory for photography and video with sound, thanks to the built-in microphone.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz) and TargetIR app to view the image on your phone and update the software (OTA).
Why choose this model?
The TD435S combines the 15 mK detector of the APEX VISION series with the smallest format: 159 × 54 × 74 mm and 355 g. It is suited to those who move on foot, wait for long periods or look for animals in terrain with cover, at short and medium distances. The base magnification of 3.26x brings the image closer than the TD635S, which has the same lens but a wider field.
Anyone who needs more detail to identify at long range should look at the 640×512 models. For general observation within a few hundred metres, 400×300 is enough.

How to choose
In the TD 3.0 series the choice comes down to three figures. Resolution (400×300 or 640×512) decides the detail in the image. The lens decides field and range: with 35 mm it detects up to 1800 m, with 50 mm up to 2600 m. Weight ranges from 355 g on this model to 461 g on the TD650S. If you also want to measure the distance to the animal, there is a version with a laser rangefinder, the TD435LS.
Frequently asked questions
What is the range of the Guide TD435S?
Guide states a detection range of 1800 m (1950 yards). Detection means seeing that there is a heat source; recognising the animal happens at shorter distances.
What battery does it use and how long does it last?
It uses a replaceable 18650 battery, with up to 10 hours of operation. Two batteries and a charger come in the box.
Can I record and view the image on my phone?
Yes. It records photo and video with sound on 64 GB of internal memory and connects via Wi-Fi to the TargetIR app.
Does it work in the rain?
It has IP67 protection against water and dust and operates between −20 °C and 50 °C.
What is the difference between the TD435S and the TD635S?
Both have a 35 mm lens and the same size. The TD635S has a 640×512 sensor, with more detail and a wider field (12.5° × 9.4°), and weighs 362 g.
Can it be mounted on a rifle?
No. The TD435S is a handheld observation monocular, not a riflescope, and is not mounted on a gun.
