The Royal balaclava is a cotton hood, which is pulled on over the head and also covers the neck and part of the face, with an opening at the eyes.
Cotton is a soft knit against the skin, without the itch typical of acrylic balaclavas, and it washes with the rest of the clothes. It is worn under a helmet, under a hat or under a hood, in the hunting hide, in outdoor shooting and in winter work.
