Forerunners of the Francisca were already used in the late Roman army. There are countless finds from the Alemannic settlement areas, from the south of England and all across in the Francovian Empire of the Merovingians.

This replica of a Merovingian throwing axe has a hand-forged axe blade made of steel with the cutting edge already sharpened.

While the axe blade is solidly crafted, we cannot guarantee the quality of the shaft. We recommend replacing it with an ash wood shaft.
